John on Policy
Common Sense. Real Accountability. A Pennsylvania That Works for Everyone.
“I’m not a career politician. I’ve run a small business, worked in our corrections system, and bought a home right here in Central PA with my wife, Vivian. Harrisburg too often protects special interests instead of working families. I’m running to bring a grounded, practical approach to the Capitol – guided by three simple principles.”
Affordability
LOWERING THE COST OF LIVING & FAIR TAXES
- A Fairer Tax Structure: End corporate tax loopholes and shift away from flat-rate taxes so large corporations pay their fair share and working families get tax relief.
- Protect Homeowners: No senior or family should lose their home to skyrocketing property taxes. We need compassionate programs to keep homeowners in their homes rather than forcing foreclosures.
- Healthcare & Prescription Relief: Put strict caps on high-cost treatments and prescription drugs, mandate transparent itemized billing, and stop predatory medical debt.
HOUSING & EVERYDAY OVERHEAD
- Expand Housing Supply: Cut rigid local restrictions to allow duplexes, townhomes, and affordable multi-family options. Expand down-payment assistance and low-interest financing for first-time buyers.
- Lower Energy & Utility Bills: Transition Pennsylvania toward renewable energy – including home solar – to stabilize power rates, create local clean-energy jobs, and protect families from unpredictable global fuel spikes.
Accountability
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY & GOVERNMENT REFORM
- End Corporate Welfare: Redirect wasteful spending – like the $250 million in annual horse racing subsidies – toward public schools, local infrastructure, and lower taxes for small businesses.
- Clean Up Harrisburg: Ban politicians from using lobbyist-funded cash for personal perks, restrict dark money in elections, and institute smart term limits for legislative leadership to stop insider control.
SMART PUBLIC SAFETY & CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM
- A Justice System That Works: Drawing from my time as a corrections officer, we must reserve jail for dangerous offenders, expand treatment for non-violent offenses, and ensure real oversight so facilities are safe, humane, and cost-effective.
- Modern First Response: Equip police officers with specialized support – like mental health co-responders – so law enforcement isn’t forced to handle non-violent crisis calls alone.
Accessibility
SUPPORTING SMALL BUSINESSES & WORKING FAMILIES
- Unlock Main Street: Cut the bureaucratic red tape, delayed licensing, and complex permit steps that hold back homegrown businesses.
- Connect Every Community: Treat high-speed broadband like a utility, ensuring rural families and students have affordable, high-quality internet.
- Strengthen Healthcare & Veterans Access: Expand rural clinics, mental health options, and telemedicine so care isn’t dictated by your ZIP code. Eliminate bureaucratic runarounds for veterans accessing care.
RIGHTS, REPRESENTATION, AND COMMON SENSE
- Protect Fundamental Rights: Defend reproductive healthcare decisions made between patients and their doctors, safeguard voting rights, and stand up for worker union protections.
- Common-Sense Gun Safety: Protect lawful firearm ownership while closing background check loopholes on private sales and introducing a reasonable 3-day waiting period to prevent spontaneous acts of violence.
- Regulate Adult-Use Cannabis: Legalize, test, and tax recreational marijuana. Divert revenue directly into substance abuse treatment, mental health, and K-12 education.
